Versailles Palace – Exhibition “The King’s Animals” by Guicciardini&Magni

Tecnografica Italian Wallcoverings’ wallpapers have been selected to complete some of the exhibition rooms in the Palace of Versailles. The “The King’s animals” exhibition will be open until February 13th, 2022.

Tecnografica proves its ability to create completely customized projects based on the needs of the individual project – both in terms of wall sizes and creativity. The new exhibition in the Palace of Versailles displays Tecnografica wallpapers installed in two of the rooms of the “The King’s animals” exhibition, which can be visited until February 13, 2022.

The company based in Castellarano (RE), is proud to announce this project considering the value among its achievements, due to the notoriety of the location and the degree of workmanship required. Thanks to the skills of the in-house designers and the potential of digital printing, the Tecnografica team was able to complete a complex customization work on large surfaces, in a context of renowned magnificence such as that of the Palace of Versailles. This is a further example placing the companies in the region of Emilia in foreground, proving their capability of creating excellence both in Italy and abroad, through projects of great, international prestige.

The exhibition illustrates the bond that has always united the court of Versailles to animals – pets, hunting or exotic “display”. The exhibition was curated by Guicciardini & Magni Architetti, an Italian architectural firm specializing in the field of Cultural Heritage, in the museum setting and interior design. This special project required the creation of a scenographic context with reference to nature. Tecnografica Italian Wallcoverings was chosen for the graphic creation and digital printing of custom wallpapers to be installed in two rooms of the French exhibition: Le Salon octagone de la ménagerie and La Chasse, rituel monarchique.
Le Salon octagone de la ménagerie partially reconstructs the original octagonal room of the ménagerie. Inside, there were over 50 paintings representing the animals housed. After being removed during the French Revolution, some of these paintings have now been reunited to be admired again in Versailles. In order to welcome and enhance the splendid paintings on display, the Guicciardini & Magni studio thought of the perfect interior design solution using a personalized botanical-themed wallpaper, created by Tecnografica on the instructions of the architects. In warm yellow tones, the branch motif is repeated along all the walls of the room.
La Chasse, rituel monarchique is the room dedicated to hunting, one of the favorite pastimes of King Louis XIV. This is one of the main rooms of the exhibition due to its considerable size. The setting was also designed by Guicciardini & Magni in a bigger scale, with the aim of recreating a real-sized forest, covering all the walls with customized wallpaper by Tecnografica and thus fully covering the five-meter-high walls. The new wallpaper design reproduces the natural play of light and shadow created by the sun’s rays filtering through the foliage of the trees. The end result is a spectacular and totally immersive scenario, as if the visitors were physically in the middle of the king’s forest.

Style is associated with materials: Guicciardini & Magni Architetti, in fact, opted for the Natural support in both decorated rooms. Natural is the Tecnografica wallpaper 100% in cellulose fiber. Natural is an ecological and certified wallpaper, totally free of PVC, chemical solvents and vinyl glues. Characterized by a Stucco effect, it guarantees a very high photographic quality of the images, with extremely bright and brilliant colors.
